A shoebox filled with film negatives comes to live...

Continuing my trek through my old film negatives I ran into the one shown in the banner above. It was taken in the north of Scotland, I believe close to Inverness during an unbelievably warm and sunny summer a long long time ago. I had to crawl up to this sheep so as not to scare it off. After I had scanned it in I initially thought that the negative was very damaged. But what I thought to be black spots turned out to be a flock of birds! I hope you enjoy the atmosphere of this shot as much as I do!

Below: I remember how excited I was to capture this shot. I am not usually a macro photographer but when I noticed this Cigalle on a branch resting on top of its carapace (if that is the right word!) after changing into a new being with wings, I quickly went to find my camera. I love the sound of Cigalles on a warm evening and to this day associate it with the many summer vacations I spent in the south of France...
